YWCA Metropolitan Chicago provides assistance to victims of sexual assault, educates about the effects of violence in our community and promotes general health and wellness through our Sexual Violence and Support Services (SVSS). Current programs include Sexual Violence Counseling which provide survivors of sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual exploitation to children ages 3 and above. Counselors support each survivor through their healing journey by utilizing a variety of methods including traditional “talk” therapy and expressive therapies. A 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Rape Crisis Hotlines, which provides survivors of sexual assault/abuse and their significant others immediate support, crisis intervention and referrals for the city of Chicago and surrounding suburbs. The YWCA also provides 24-hour Medical and Criminal Justice services to survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse. The YWCA Medical and Criminal Justice Program help to reduce the trauma and help with the healing process.
